WILLIAM (MORGAN) CUSHE
MORGAN (Bro Scotch) a former Springbok and a stalwart of the rugby game was an U19 coach of the Eye of the Tiger Rugby Academy team. He passed away on Saturday afternoon at 16h45 after a not so long illness.Morgan was one of the first members who joined the consultation process of the Eye of the Tiger Rugby Academy in 2010. Morgan possesses a strong history of rugby in South Africa.
Before joining the Eye of the Tiger Rugby Academy as young boy he played rugby throughout his life until he retired, he played for various clubs including the P.E Swallows and Uitenhage District. In 1973 and 1974 he was included in the South African Rugby team that toured Europe to play against the British Lions. He also toured France and Italy in 1974.
After his Rugby career he got involved in the Eastern Province Rugby Union Development department. This is where the Eye of the Tiger discovered his love for rugby and growth of rugby in the country. In 2010 he joined the consultation process for the formation of the Eye of the Tiger Rugby academy, where he was nominated to coach the U19 side of the Academy which was then u17.
The Eye of the Tiger Rugby Academy attributes its success to his tireless hard work and commitment to the growth of the academy and rugby in general in South Africa.
The passing away of this committed rugby stalwart of South Africa is such a loss to the Eye of the Tiger and rugby in general said Viwe Qegu the President of the Eye of the Tiger Rugby Academy. He was a true lover of rugby, quiet and soft. Our deepest sympathy to his family. His team will miss him, he has left a void in the family of the Eye of the Tiger.
His funeral will take place in on Saturday 12 October 2013 at Bab’s Madlakane Communıty Hall in Uitenhage .
