Community Cup Champions, Despatch RFC will be looking to take a big step towards consolidating their place at the summit of the EPRU Grand Challenge when they meet Varsity cup semi-finalists, NMMU Madibaz, on Saturday in a much-anticipated Grand Challenge match at the South Campus Stadium.

Eagles, as Despatch is affectionately known, were the only side to beat the students last year on their way to qualify for Community Cup, however this time around its NMMU who will be motivated to give Despatch their first taste of defeat in 2013.

Despatch have 30 points from six matches and currently on top of the log, NMMU are four points behind them in second place with 26 points. This is NMMU’s chance of regaining the lead and a victory here we go a long way in helping them shake off their defeat to the resurgent Spring Rose outfit in the 4th round.

Speaking of Spring Rose, they will host third placed PE Harlequins outfit at New Brighton Oval on Saturday in another mouth-watering match of the weekend.

Another match that will surely interest a lot of people Super 12 finalists, Progress RFC, will host Community Cup wild card, African Bombers RFC, at Central Fields in Uitenhage. Here we expect nothing less than fireworks.

Border Rugby Union Premier League

A massive match takes place at Mdantsane’s NU 13 Stadium on Saturday, where the home team and 2012 club champs qualifiers, Winter Rose RFC host their biggest rivals from across the street, Swallows RFC in a BRU Premier league match that could go a long way to deciding who tops Group A.

In a season that started very slowly with the newly promoted clubs getting hammerings from the traditional BRU big guns, this match will surely bring excitement back to the league. When these two teams met earlier in the season, Winter Rose won a tightly contested match, however Swallows have started the league on a high note and deserve their current second place in Group A.
