Elliot Mntuwekhaya Fana

Elliot Mntuwekhaya Fana was born in a small town of Alice in the Eastern Cape where he was introduced to the game of rugby at an early age. He later moved to the Northern Free State / Gauteng mining area where he studied at LTS Technical School and Captained both Rugby and Cricket. Currently he is the Director of Rugby / Head Coach for the University of Fort Hare Rugby Club (known as UFH Blues Rugby Club) which plays in the Varsity Shield Cup and Border Super League. In 2009 the UFH Blues won the Heritage tournament and was promoted to the Super League where we finished 3rd for two seasons. In 2011 the UFH Blues won the Gunubbie 10’s and Heritage Tournament providing the Border Bulldogs with players of calibre. Elliot is the Head Coach of the Border Bulldogs u/21 who are the Champions of the Currie Cup B division and will be playing in the A Section of the Currie Cup next year. Fana has also worked with the national sides namely: SA u/20 team and the Botswana Vultures.
