Canterbury SA have donated rugby kit and balls to Grassroots Rugby, a charity that assist disadvantaged rugby players access rugby playing opportunities locally and outside the country.
Canterbury have committed to provide sport clothing to players that are going on the South African Rugby Exhange Program that is supported by both South African Rugby Union and the British High Commission in South Africa. Through this program a number of players of color have now played club rugby in UK on a six months exchange.
First Grassroots Rugby players to benefit from this generous support are Unathi Kongwana and Zingisa April who jetted off to UK last week to play for Lowestoft & Yarmouth RUFC in the division 3 of South East London league.
Founder of Grassroots Rugby, Qondakele Sompondo, expressed his gratitude to the apparel company. “Canterbury is one of the most notable brands in the sport and leisure industry and to have our charity and players associated with it is massive. We are grateful to them for their kindness and wish to assure them that these boys will wear their brand with pride”, said Sompondo.
